As you've heard, we are making some changes to our book processes here at Norwich which will enhance your student experience and help keep your academic costs under control.
The list is updated 30 days prior to the start of each course. Please view the list on a laptop or desktop for best viewing experience.
We've put together a list of questions and answers to help you navigate our new textbook and course material process using the Online Programs Bookstore.
Approximately 30 days prior to your class start, a booklist will be published to this page to which you can reference. You will receive an email when your order has been uploaded to your Online Programs Bookstore shopping cart will be pre-populated with the books you need for any courses in which you are registered for the current start date. You must review your shopping cart to opt-in or opt-out of books. If you aren't sure which courses you are registered for, please contact your Norwich advisor.
A link will be provided via email when your shopping cart is ready. Your cart will be available beginning three (3) weeks prior to class and will close at 12:00 p.m. EDT on the first Friday (week 1) of classes.
Every item in your shopping cart will have a check box and the word “accept” to the left of the title indicating that the item will be shipped to you. The accept box will be populated with the checkmark as the default. If you uncheck the box, this will indicate that you have chosen to “opt out” of receiving your books through our Online Programs Bookstore. If you leave the default of the check mark populated in the “accept” box, this indicates you are “opting-in.” Again, if you wish to obtain your books on your own, you must remove the checkmark in the “accept” box. Removal of the check mark indicates “opt-out.”
Yes. The option to opt-in and opt-out can be selected at the book and/or eTextbook level.
Once you have opted-in and your order has been confirmed, you will need to reference “Returns” link on the storefront Help Desk page. Please note that shipping charges will apply.
If you opted out, then decide you do want to get the textbooks through the Online Programs Bookstore, you will need to notify your Norwich advisor. He/she will request that your shopping cart be reloaded. Please note: You must do this prior to the first day of class. Books must be acquired by the first day of class.
Yes, you can review our current book and course materials list which is updated 30 days prior to the start of any course, and is subject to change. However, the pre-populated shopping cart is only available for courses in which you are registered.
Once you have received the email notifying you that your textbooks have been loaded to your shopping cart and are ready for review, (approximately 3 weeks prior to the start of class) you will have access to select your books or opt out until the Friday after class starts. At that time, the Online Programs Bookstore is accessible 24/7.
POD stands for “print-on-demand.” A POD offering is an option, but never a requirement.
In order to obtain the POD version of your text, you must order the eTextbook and the POD in one transaction. If you only order the eTextbook in one transaction, you cannot return to the storefront to order the POD version separately. When purchasing the POD with an eTextbook version, you will be required to pay for this at the time of checkout. PODs are considered supplemental items and we are unable to post those charges to your Norwich student bill. Please note eTextbooks purchased with a POD option is non-refundable.
Just like a physical textbook, the VitalSource eTextbooks support highlighting, note taking, and easy search options as part of its robust reading interface, both on- and off-line.
If you do not already have a VitalSource account associated with your Norwich email, the first time that you order an eTextbook, you will receive an email from VitalSource that contains instructions for setting up your account and a second email that provides you with information about accessing your eTextbook. Your eTextbook(s) will be available on your bookshelf after you have created an account (first-time users) and logged into VitalSource.
Once you have opted-in to each of your course materials and finalized the process through the shopping cart, you will receive details about accessing digital titles you have selected.
You will receive a shipping confirmation email when your books have shipped. For additional information, you may check your order status from the home page of the Online Programs Bookstore.
The default shipping method when we upload your cart will be UPS 1 Day (Overnight).
You will need to select the shipping method that best fits your needs, keeping in mind that the shipping charges will be added to your Norwich Student Bill. The other options for residential shipping will be Ground (typically 3-5 business days) or UPS 2-day.
Military addresses will ship via USPS. Typical delivery times for USPS are 5-10 days, however once it arrives at the Military Postal system, there could be further delays.
International shipping options will depend on the country selected.
