Paul Caron
In order to become a multidimensional leader in today’s Army, I knew that pursuing my degree was a must. Obtaining this degree from Norwich University would ensure that I was set up for success after the Army.
Q: “Paul what was your motivation for pursuing your degree?”
A: “In today’s military, pursuing a degree while serving can be a daunting task, but by achieving this, I felt it would greatly separate me from my peers. In order to become a multidimensional leader in today’s Army, I knew that pursuing my degree was a must. Obtaining this degree from Norwich University would ensure that I was set up for success after the Army.”
Q: “Why did you choose Norwich and how did you learn about it?”
A: “Having the opportunity to attend a university that is so rich in history isn’t easy for Soldiers currently serving. Norwich embodies the pride and legacy that isn’t found in other universities. I learned about the Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis program from a coworker prior to beginning a program with another university. After reading about the program, I knew I had to begin my quest to become a graduate of Norwich University.”
Q: “What makes Norwich unique?”
A: “I always felt that Norwich University was unique because it catered directly to a specific facet of the military, those serving within Special Operations. I feel that the Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis degree offered at Norwich University is appealing to prospective students because it complements the experience of those that have served, or are currently serving within Special Operations possess. Students completing this program, coupled with their experience within Special Operations will ultimately acquire a unique balance of education and real world experience not commonly found.”
Q: “Please describe any memorable experiences with faculty or staff?”
A: “From day one, I was really involved with those who are in the program management within the program. Karie and Alec were not only always available, but despite their growing work load, were always there to answer every question that I had. Because of this, it made me feel that I wasn’t just a number, but a member of the Norwich team.”
Q: “What aspects of the Norwich experience will you carry most strongly with you?”
A: “The Norwich motto “Expect challenge. Achieve distinction” is the aspect that I feel most embodied my tenure in the Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis program. Between work, operational requirements, and school, I felt that the challenge portion was faced every day. Upon graduating, I knew that my hard work culminated in that aforementioned level of distinction that I haven’t experienced in a while. Being a Norwich alumni isn’t something many people can share, but truly an accomplishment only meant for a few.
