A Legacy of Leadership

Norwich University was founded in 1819 on the belief that education should be useful, practical, and connected to the world beyond the classroom. More than two centuries later, that commitment continues through programs designed to strengthen judgment, deepen expertise, and prepare graduates to contribute in their professions and communities.

Norwich is the nation's oldest private military college and the birthplace of ROTC. It is also a diversified university that educates civilian students, members of the Corps of Cadets, and adult learners. That combination of tradition and breadth has shaped generations of leaders across business, government, technology, healthcare, public service, and the armed forces.

The Norwich Experience Goes Beyond the Screen

Online learning at Norwich is not limited to a screen. Students can connect academic preparation with applied experiences, meet classmates and faculty in person, and take part in traditions that make Norwich a community as well as a university.

Formal garden with a central fountain, walking paths, trees, cyclists, and a brick tower in the distance.

Immersion Courses Across the World

Norwich's developing immersion opportunities bring online preparation into real settings where students work across cultures, test ideas, and make decisions under pressure. Recent graduate experiences in Berlin connected online study with international collaboration, simulations, site visits, and complex real-world scenarios. The subject and location may change, but the purpose remains consistent: prepare carefully, engage directly, and apply what you know.

Norwich continues to expand and refine its academic portfolio around the challenges shaping professions, communities, and institutions now.

A research-driven 36-credit master's that examines crime in its social, legal, psychological, and environmental context rather than treating it as a policing problem alone. Six 11-week courses build advanced criminological theory, qualitative and quantitative research methods, legal foundations and justice policy, and an understanding of violent behavior and trauma-informed systems, finishing with an applied capstone in original research or policy analysis. Electives let students concentrate in terrorism and state-sponsored violence, cybercrime and digital risk, environmental criminology, victimology, comparative international justice, or crime prevention and policy design. Eighteen months, classes capped at 15 students, and a $550 per credit hour rate for military and first responders.

Students can shape the degree through electives in digital storytelling and exhibit design, cultural resource management, oral history and community engagement, historic preservation and archival practice, and museum studies. Eighteen months, $550–$725 per credit hour, no GRE or GMAT required, and up to 12 transfer credits accepted.

Program Information

Twenty-two weeks total, and a bachelor's degree in any field with a 2.50 GPA is all that's required to start. Credits earned apply toward Norwich's Master of Science in Cybersecurity.
