"According to my parents, my first word (besides 'Mom' or 'Dad') was 'why?' I'm fairly certain they used to make up explanations for things just to get me to stop asking, 'why?'"

Research Interests and Expertise
Page Spiess conducts research in the fields of respiratory toxicology, environmental toxicology, public health, and teaching and learning. Her research journey began as a child growing up with two fathers who were both researchers – an archaeologist and a nuclear engineer. Spiess actively mentors students, advising that not all research is glamorous. It can be tiring and/or tedious at times. But, those moments when you make the exciting discoveries or you visualize the results and they really do support your hypothesis...those make up for all of the less thrilling times. She collaborates with colleagues at Norwich including Dr. Sarah Gallant, Dr. Jeff Kirkland, and Bill Lyons.
