Mitch Yockelson

Mitch Yockelson is a professor of military history in the graduate program at Norwich University. He is an investigative archivist in the Office of the Inspector General at the National Archives and Records Administration, where he investigates the theft of historical documents. Additionally, he is the chief historian for the United States World War One Centennial Commission.

Yockelson lectures internationally as one of the foremost authorities on World War I and has served as an on-screen consultant to the History Channel, PBS, and the Pentagon Channel. He has written numerous books, reviews, and articles, and his book Borrowed Soldiers: Americans under British Command was named by the London Independent as one of the best books on military history in 2008. His most recent book, Forty-Seven Days: How Pershing's Warriors Came of Age to Defeat the German Army in World War I, was published by New American Library Press in 2016.

He received an undergraduate degree in history from Frostburg State University, a master’s degree in history from George Mason University, and a doctorate degree in military history from the Royal Military College of Science, Cranfield University, U.K.
