Certificate in Artificial Intelligence
For managers, analysts, and technical professionals who are being asked to make AI decisions for their organization and want the judgment to make them well. In twelve credits you will evaluate where AI actually creates value in an enterprise, build a data strategy that supports it, and defend those recommendations to a business audience.
Overview
Most organizations now have an AI strategy on paper and almost no one qualified to judge it. The gap is rarely technical. It is the harder question of which processes are worth automating, what a data estate has to look like before a model is useful, what a vendor is actually selling, and where the legal and ethical exposure sits. People are making those decisions right now, often without being trained for it, and they were handed the assignment.
The Certificate in Artificial Intelligence is built for that person. Across two 11-week graduate courses, you work through case studies in digital transformation, data strategy, and AI-powered enterprise systems, identifying the real obstacles rather than the ones in the vendor deck. You examine AI's practical use across industries, assess the ethical implications of deploying these technologies, and learn to defend a judgment in a business case to people who will hold you to it.
Norwich teaches this from a position few institutions hold. The university operates its own Artificial Intelligence Center and has been designated by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense a credential earned over two decades of teaching technology in high-consequence environments. The faculty are practitioners, and the certificate is taught 100% online for people already doing the work.
What You Will Learn
By the end of the certificate you will be able to:
- Analyze case studies in digital transformation, data strategy, and AI-powered enterprise solutions to separate real obstacles from perceived ones
- Build machine learning models suited to the data type in front of you, and run the exploratory analysis that precedes them
- Establish and interpret the performance metrics appropriate to each model type, and recognize when a metric is flattering a model that does not work
- Apply data governance and responsible-AI principles to decisions about whether and how a system should be deployed
- Evaluate the ethical implications of AI technologies and defend that judgment in a business case
- Translate analytical findings into recommendations a cross-functional audience legal, operations, finance can act on
