Mark Beckner has over 35 years of police experience at all levels, including 16 years as Chief of Police of the Boulder, CO Police Department. 

His past assignments have included patrol, detective, training, undercover work, crime scene investigation, hostage negotiator, traffic, sergeant, internal affairs investigator, commander, SWAT commander, and detective commander. During his career, he has been involved in a number of high profile cases receiving national attention. He has also been involved in police training through most of his career, including serving on the Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) board in the state of Colorado. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF). He recently helped forge a collaborative partnership between state and local government by working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to open a DNA laboratory in the Boulder Police Department to serve the northeast region of Colorado. Prior to becoming an instructor for Norwich University, he had experience as a community college instructor, police training instructor, ethics instructor and guest lecturer at national conferences and the University of Colorado. He holds a master's degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Colorado-Denver and a BS in criminal justice from Ferris State University.
