I was delighted to have great professors who had incredible public history backgrounds and were so invested in helping the students grow as aspiring museum professionals.

Q: “Tell us about yourself.”
A: “My husband Cole and I reside in eastern North Carolina and enjoy spending time outside. I currently work as a programming associate at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.”

Q: “Why did you choose Norwich?”
A: “I learned about Norwich University from friends in the military. I knew Norwich had a strong military history and history program. Once I learned about the online history MA program, I was delighted to discover Dr. Ulbrich’s background [and Norwich’s concentration] in public history.”

Q: “Prior to beginning your courses, what were some of your expectations for an online degree program?”
A: “I figured it would be a rigorous program with a lot of reading and assignments, and that is exactly what it was. I was delighted to have great professors such as Professor Yockelson who had incredible public history backgrounds and were so invested in helping the students grow as aspiring museum professionals.”

Q: “What was your motivation for pursuing your degree?”
A: “I wanted to further my education and focus on public history to pursue a career in the museum field. I was hoping to enter the museum field after graduating with an MA in History, and I have been fortunate enough to do that, working at two excellent institutions, the Science History Institute and the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. I look forward to growing as a museum professional and working in my dream job at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.”

Q: “What has been your biggest personal or professional success since earning your degree?”
A: “I was delighted to be selected as a fall 2023 Women@MIT fellow for my Story Map project, Mapping Migration at MIT. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to read well-known works in the museum field, and I think about those readings regularly in my daily work.”

Q: “What advice would you give future students enrolling in one of Norwich’s online programs?”
A: “I would advise future students to take the time to get to know their professors and fellow classmates. It can be more challenging via an online platform, but it’s worth the effort!”
