GSOF and Norwich Scholarships

This initiative is designed to support the academic and professional advancement of international special operations personnel.

Administered in partnership by the Global Special Operations Forces Foundation (GSOF) and Norwich University, the program provides full tuition coverage for selected candidates pursuing undergraduate and graduate degree opportunities. Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of professional performance, operational leadership, and the intellectual capacity to succeed in a rigorous academic environment. Additionally, applicants are expected to show a clear commitment to enhancing strategic-level decision-making and interoperability within the global SOF community.

Application Process

Submit all of the following items:

  • Application form 
  • Official transcript or evaluation
  • English Language Competency
  • Official military transcripts or training certificates translated in English
  • Letter of Support from JSOU Commandant and home command (Enlisted Only)
  • Letter of endorsement from service members home commander and J3I (Officer Only)

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be active-duty military personnel (enlisted or officer) currently assigned to HQ U.S. Special
    Operations Command (SOCOM).
  • Be affiliated with an international SOF component recognized by allied SOF commands.
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency adequate for academic success, as evidenced by
    TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent documentation (unless exempted by prior graduation from
    JSOFSEA or a U.S. Professional Military Education (PME) equivalent).

For Enlisted Applicants:

  • Must be a graduate of the Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy (JSOFSEA).
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of SOF-related military service.
  • Must possess a high school diploma and demonstrate evidence of post-secondary education or
    equivalent professional military education.
     

For Officer Applicants:

  • Must be assigned to HQ USSOCOM as an exchange officer or LNO.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or US recognized foreign
    equivalent.
  • Must submit an official evaluation of foreign university transcripts from a Norwich University
    approved credentialing agency.
     

*Recipients of the scholarship are selected by a Norwich University scholarship committee based on a thorough review of application materials.
