Kathryn Merriam teaches American History in the graduate program at Norwich University. 

She mentors students who are writing capstone papers on American and Native American topics. She also teaches Native American History at University of St. Joseph, Hartford Connecticut, and at the Community College of Vermont. Her research is focused on the Iroquois of New York and the ethnologists at the Smithsonian Institution. Kathryn is on the steering committee for the Conference on Iroquois Research. As the publication chair, she is the editor of the conference’s publication, Iroquoia: the journal of the Conference on Iroquois Research. She has given papers at the Iroquois Conference, at the Ethnohistory Conference, and at NAISA, the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association. Kathryn received her PhD and Master of Arts in History from University of Massachusetts Amherst and undergraduate degree from Wellesley College.
