Simona Hankins, PhD, RN, CNE is a licensed registered nurse who joined the School of Nursing at Norwich University in 2024. She has been teaching in nursing education programs in New England since 2016. Simona has clinical nursing experience in various practice areas including the emergency department, primary care, occupational health, school nursing, home health, and endoscopy. She currently works per-diem at UVM Medical Center as a Staff Nurse II on a pre/post procedural unit. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Saint Anthony College of Nursing (2006), a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Jacksonville University (2016), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Education and Leadership from Oklahoma City University (2023).

Simona is passionate about nursing education, and thoroughly enjoys supporting students in their achievement of professional practice and career goals. Her research interests include increasing diversity in the nursing workforce, innovative teaching and learning methods in nursing education, and the use of simulation in graduate-level nursing programs. Simona is a transplanted Vermonter (since 2021) who enjoys year-round outdoor activities with her family, reading, traveling, and cooking.
