About
Magdalena Barreiro is the Dean of the College of Business Administration and a professor of finance at Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador.
As a leading authority on Ecuador's financial system, fiscal sustainability, and capital markets, she serves as Ecuador's local partner for GlobalSource Partners and is an independent consultant on Ecuador’s economic and political developments. She previously served as Minister of Economy and Finance and oversaw Ecuador’s re-entry into the international capital markets with its first sovereign issuance after nearly a decade. She also served as an economic and financial advisor for the National Council for State Modernization and Privatization for Ecuador and was the financial sector coordinator at the Central Bank of Ecuador. She has lectured at universities in the United States and abroad, as well as published working papers on pension reform and analysis of corporate tax. At Norwich, she teaches in the finance courses for the Master of Business Administration program. She holds a PhD in management science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Stuart School of Business. She earned her master’s degree in management from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and has bachelor’s degree in business management from Escuela Politecnica del Ejercito.
