About
Dr. Jon B. Mikolashek is the Academic Director of the online History, Military History, and Museum Administration programs at Norwich University. Before his appointment at Norwich, Dr. Mikolashek was a member of the Joint Forces Staff College and served as a Professor of Military History at the United States Army Command and General Staff College, located in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, as well as its branch at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Earlier in his career at the Command and General Staff College, he held a position as a Historian at the United States Army Center of Military History in Fort McNair, Washington, D.C., where he worked specifically in the Contemporary Studies Branch. His educational experience includes instructing college-level courses at various institutions, such as James Madison University, Tallahassee Community College, Florida State University, and American Military University. Dr. Mikolashek completed his undergraduate studies in History at Longwood College and subsequently earned a graduate degree in History from James Madison University. He received his Ph.D. in United States History, specializing in the Islamic World and Military History, from Florida State University.
In addition to his educational achievements, Dr. Mikolashek is a highly regarded author, having produced numerous articles, reviews, and scholarly works. He wrote "Blood, Guts, and Grease: George S. Patton in World War I," which was published by the University of Kentucky Press in 2019. Among his other significant publications are "General Mark Clark: Commander of United States Fifth Army and Liberator of Rome," initially released by Casemate Publishing in 2013 and reissued in a second edition in 2021, as well as "Operation ENDURING FREEDOM: 2002-2005," published in 2013, where he contributed as a co-author.
