Learning to lead oneself, others, the organization, and in service, all while incorporating Norwich values-based leadership taxonomies will create the conditions for success not just professionally, but personally as well.

Q: “Tell us about yourself.”

A: “I have been married to my wife, Darena, for 31 years. We have three boys, Justen, Kyle, and Ryan, and a 5-year-old grandson, Vincent.  In my free time, I enjoy golfing, fishing, and spending time with my family. I served for 31 years in the US Army until retiring in 2017. Since then, I have served primarily in an independent consulting role with Beaver Fit North America, as well as forming my own Leadership Consulting Firm, 5th Principle LLC.”

Q: “Why did you choose Norwich?”

A: “I was introduced to Norwich while serving with, then Captain, and now Major General Charles Massarrchia in 2000 in 1st Ranger Battalion. After doing some homework on potential universities, Norwich became my first choice based on their values-based leadership taxonomy and their guiding values, which perfectly aligned with those I held throughout my years in uniform.”

Q: “Prior to beginning your courses, what were some of your expectations for an online degree program, and how were those met or challenged based on your experience with Norwich?”

A: “My expectations prior to the start of the program were completely met over the past 18+ months. The assistance from the faculty, staff, and my cohort assisted me greatly throughout the program. The group project allowed us to use and leverage technology, which is a must in today’s global environment.”

Q: “What is one piece of advice you would give to future students enrolling into one of Norwich’s online programs?”

A: “You are never too old, as I enrolled in the program at 51 years old and graduated at 53. Life-long learning is not restricted by age, current roles in the corporate world, or past experiences. In making yourself better, this will, in turn, make your organization better as a result.”

Q: “What aspects of your Norwich experience will you carry most strongly with you?”

A: “I will try,” and the guiding values are what I will carry with me into the future. Learning to lead oneself, others, the organization, and in service, all while incorporating Norwich values-based leadership taxonomies will create the conditions for success not just professionally, but personally as well.”
