Certificate in Computer Forensic Investigation/Incident Response Team Management
The course covers various topics related to creating and managing a computer security incident response team. It includes discussions on digital investigation and forensics from both technical and management perspectives to enhance the information assurance professional's understanding and application of domain-specific knowledge. Additionally, students will explore contemporary perspectives on professional ethics and ethical behavior of public sector leaders, particularly regarding their fiduciary responsibility in investing and managing public funds.
The topics covered include analyzing and applying the key points in creating and managing a computer security incident response team (CSIRT) also known as a computer incident response team (CIRT) or a computer emergency response team (CERT). Discussions of digital investigation and forensics cover topics from both technical and management perspectives to increase the information assurance professional’s understanding and application of domain-specific knowledge.
When this certificate is taken along with the Cyber Basics and Human Aspects & Analytics certificates the student can apply to the Master of Science, Cybersecurity program to be awarded the M.S. degree. Contact the director of the program for details.
Program Specific Admission Requirements
An understanding of the Microsoft Windows operating systems and a background in systems administration is helpful, but not required.
A bachelor's degree in any discipline from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or an equivalent degree from a foreign institution, as evaluated by WES, IERF, or SpanTran.
