Celso Fornies Casals is an economist with a degree from the UCM of Madrid, Spain; an MBA by IESE (Madrid, Spain); and a PhD by URCJ (Madrid, Spain). 

He has been a board member for the Madrid Economists Association and President of its European Integration Commission. He was a Counselor for Spain's General Council of Economists Associations from 1992 to 2008. He has been a full time professor at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, at the Universidad CEU San Pablo, and lately in the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid, where he holds an honorary status teaching at the master's level. Throughout his academic career, he has been working in different official bodies and companies where he has been involved in the liberalization of the automotive, telecommunications, and energy industries in the UE for over three decades. Has launched several companies, and served as CEO for three of them. His most recent research, publications, and presentations are dedicated to the development of energy markets.
