Tina T. Myers, 2009 MPA alumna, is the Executive Director of the Topsfield Housing Authority. In this position she helps homeless veterans, the elderly and the disabled find housing. As Myers puts it,"The job hits me on a personal level each day."
Myers herself is no stranger to adversity. She spent her childhood in foster homes and has been homeless herself, the result she believes, of lacking a stable home and adults to guide her. Myers found education to be her way out of adversity and onto a path of service.
"I was forced to take matters in to my own hands and find success through education. I am a single mom of two amazing daughters and knew I had to be a shining example to them and be a voice for others like me who deal with the same struggles as I," said Myers.
In addition to her work at the Topsfield Housing Authority, Myers also serves as the Transitions Coordinator at Operation Bootstrap, a non-Profit organization that helps adult learners pave their success through education.
Myers was recently nominated for 2012 North Shore Boston Businesswoman of the Year award.
