Richard Solitro is beginning to design his capstone project, an iconic pedestrian bridge, for the Master of Civil Engineering program. The Morse Hope Bridge, to be located on the Rhode Island Hospital campus in Providence, RI, is being dedicated to Stephanie Morse, a friend of Solitro’s, who is battling stage 3 breast cancer. The bridge will depict two breast cancer ribbons as the main supports, and will connect an existing parking garage to the Emergency Room building and the Medical Office Center.
Solitro was also the team leader who organized the participation of his employer, DiPrete Engineering, in a walk with the American Cancer Society on October 21, 2012. Beyond raising money for the American Cancer Society, the goal was to raise awareness for The Morse Hope Bridge project and show support for breast cancer awareness month.
