Johannes R. Allert, a graduate of both the Master of Arts in Military History (2011) and the Certificate in Teaching and Learning (2012) programs at Norwich will soon see an article he wrote published in the March 2013 issue of Air & Space Power Journal, the US Air Force’s (USAF) professional journal and an international publication.
Allert says the article is based on his capstone paper from the military history program; it focuses on Lt. General Frank Andrews and his role in developing the Caribbean Defense Command. "Andrews' appraoch was unique to American history since it was the first effort utilizing airpower as a primary weapons platform," Allert explains.
Allert attributes the source of inspiration for the entire project to his late father's service as an instrument flight mechanic in the Sixth Air Force during World War II. Thoroughout the duration of Allert's project, which included first creating the capstone paper and then adapting it to fit the article specifications, Allert says," I received plenty of constructive feedback and support from my wife, professors, and Norwich classmates. Definitely a rewarding and fulfilling experience!"
