Damon Small, a 2005 graduate of Norwich University's Master of Information Assurance program, recently presented at the Houston-based HOU.SEC.CON conference which brings together area businesses and special guests to talk about information security and training. Small presented his report, "Connections: From the Eisenhower Interstate System to the Internet" which encompasses the idea that cyber security professionals can learn a great deal from logistical challenges of moving vehicles across the country. Although these two topics seem unrelated, Small connects 20th century road-building projects, ARPANET and the commercialization of the Internet to arrive in current-day cyberspace. He explores how the two massive infrastructures have changed the world, and the important lessons that the former can teach about the latter.
