Since earning his Master of Public Administration degree in 2012, Bryan Jones has continued to develop as a leader in local government. Most recently, June 2018, Jones was appointed Interim City Manager for Eastvale, CA. In previous work as the deputy transportation director for the City of Carlsbad, CA, Jones guided the transformation of its transportation culture to focus on moving and connecting people through the implementation of livable streets. In recognition of his innovation and dedication, he was recently awarded the Public Innovator of the Year award by Move San Diego. This award recognizes people that create communities to work, live and thrive in a healthier and more economically competitive way. Upon receiving this award, Jones reflected back on his capstone project at Norwich, titled “To thrive in the 21st century local governments will need to develop leadership and foster innovation.” This was completed with inspiration from Professor Frank Colaprete, who, Jones says, helped to develop his continued hyper-curious, always-learning mantra to discover more about leadership and innovation. Jones wrote to Norwich stating, “I am really proud of my Norwich education and Norwich MPA degree. It has helped me change my thinking and challenged me to achieve greater results.” View a video highlighting Bryan’s work to create livable streets.
