Q: “Tom, please tell us a little bit about yourself.”
A: “I’m married to a phenomenal person. We have a 23 year old son who just graduated from Friends University in Wichita, K.S. I’m retired after 25 years in the Reserves. I served as the operations officer for V Corps Movement Control Battalion in 2003.”
Q: “How about where you live?”
A: “We share time between our house in Ames, IA and our apartment in Chicago, IL.”
Q: “Tell us about your career and current employer.”
A: “I am President of Lean Training and Consulting, Inc. There I train and consult in Lean operations and lean Six Sigma methodology.”
Q: “What was your motivation for pursuing your Master of Civil Engineering degree?”
A: “Lean operations is about reducing waste in processes. My degree will enable me to dig deeper into waste reduction and at the same time, save on our natural resources.”
Q: “Why did you choose Norwich and how did you learn about it?”
A: “I learned about Norwich during an online search. The reason I selected Norwich is due to the rich military history of the school.”
Q: “What makes Norwich unique?”
A: “Instructors who care and the school history.”
Q: “What aspects of your Norwich experience will you carry most strongly?”
A: “Having a master’s in civil engineering from a university with the history of Norwich as well as being a graduate of this University.”
Q: “Do you have any examples of putting your knowledge to work in your career?”
A: “I have started conducting energy kaizen events.”
Q: “How have you grown personally as a result of your education?”
A: “I have started to look at the environment as a finite resource.”
