Sam Prestipino

Master of Business Administration
, Class of 2012
After our work in the MBA program studying dashboards in marketing and operations, I implemented a weekly dashboard for my division that next week. Now I have real business tools, such as metrics and dashboards, and I have more credibility.

Q:  “Sam, tell us a bit about yourself, your family and hobbies.”
A:  “I am married with 3 children who are 7, 4, and  8 months. I’m a 32nd degree Freemason, past secretary and trustee of my local Masonic lodge and a Civil War re-enactor.

Q:  “Tell us about where you live.”
A:  I live in North Carolina in a suburb of Raleigh Durham.

Q:  “Who is your current employer, describe your work there?”
A:  “I work for Implus Footcare, LLC. as Director of Systems Technology.  I manage all technology operations globally (i.e.,EDI, IT Support, IT Development) for 5 locations in the U.S. and in Paris, France. I’ve had the good fortune to work on a number of ERP, acquisition, and large facility projects over the past 10 years with the company.”

Q:  “What was your motivation for pursuing your MBA?”
A:  “To bring added value to the company and at the same time increase my own worth to the company.”

Q:  “Why did you choose Norwich for your online MBA?
A:  “I am a Theta Chi.  I was here for our fraternity’s 150th convention in 2006 and really love the history and tradition mixed with the mobility of the online program. It ended up being a perfect fit to pursue my MBA. My picture is in the book in the museum from when I was here in 2006.”

Q:  “What makes Norwich unique?”
A:  “History. Tradition. Fearlessness to re-invent itself while holding onto the first two qualities I mentioned.”

Q:  “What aspects of the Norwich experience will you carry most with you?”
A:  “Besides the core principles of the program, the contacts that I’ve made through the program.”

Q:  “Please describe any memorable experiences you had with faculty in your online MBA courses?”
A: “I had to take the 6 month prerequisite and my first instructor, Gail Ribalta, had some very encouraging words regarding the attainability of the degree following a dismal performance on an economics paper. Gail gave a lot of real world examples from her business experience.

Q: “How have you grown professionally as a result of the program?”
A: “I have implemented many of the leadership and metrics concepts from the program directly into my division.”

Q: “Please tell us about any examples where you were able to put your knowledge to work immediately at your job.”
A: “After our work studying dashboards in marketing and operations, I implemented a weekly dashboard for my division that next week.  I measure tags more and I always used to go off my gut.  Now I have real business tools, such as metrics and dashboards, and I have more credibility.”
