Q: “Tell us about yourself, Robert.”
A: "I’m an only child that was raised in Ohio, and been living in the Bay Area (California) for the last six years. Passion for cars and motorcycles, with a newfound interest in flowers and succulents. I enjoy the wonders of nature at every opportunity."

Q: "Please describe your professional experience."
A: "Began working while pursuing my undergraduate (chemical engineering) at a paper and pulp mill in the environmental department and conducted two years of water contamination research before graduating and working in process controls and automation. After working two years in California, and traveling around the western US, I began working at a corrosion engineering firm where I’m presently working with municipalities and utility companies.

Q: “What was your motivation for pursuing your degree?”
A: "A desire to learn more about water treatment and various civil engineering subject matter. I’ve wanted to pursue a project to produce sustainable municipal utility services for developing regions and Norwich’s program offered a great opportunity to kick start this project."

Q: "What were some of your expectations for an online degree program and how were those met or challenges based on your experience at Norwich?"
A: "I didn’t know what to expect. Reading course material [online], as opposed to in-person lectures, was a personal challenge, as I have difficulty reading and not being distracted by life/work. However, I improved my time management to ensure I could absorb course material."

Q: "How have you grown personally or professionally since completing your coursework and degree?"
A: "I have developed an understanding of hydrology, water resources/treatment, and completed my project design, and setting the foundation to implement my idea. I can carry discussions with many of my clients in areas beyond my present career, opening opportunities for growth."

Q: "How would you describe the Residency experience to future graduates?"
A: "It's an amazing opportunity to listen and learn from your peers and faculty. Interact with as many individuals as possible – everyone has something to share and an important story which will improve your understanding of the world and its challenges."
