Q: “Tell us about you as a person – where you live, your family, interests.”
A: “I live in St. Albans, Vermont with my wife of five years and two daughters. My wife and I enjoy being outside with our children, jogging, hiking, biking and rock climbing. We have a large vegetable garden that we love to ‘play’ in with our children.”

Q: “What is your current employer and what does your professional life entail?”
A: “I am currently a part-owner and project engineer at Aldrich Elliot, PC, located in Essex Junction, Vermont. I have been with this company for just over 10 years and have a diverse background that combines design and construction management. I have been involved with many professional organizations both locally and nationally, including serving as president of the Vermont section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and president of the Vermont Society of Professional Engineers. I previously held a position on the Northwest Planning Commission for Franklin and Grand Isle counties in Vermont.”

Q: “What was your motivation for pursuing your degree?”
A: “As a learned profession, I believe that engineers require additional education beyond a bachelor’s degree to become proficient and meet the professional and ethical obligations of being an engineer.”

Q: “Why did you choose Norwich?”
A: “I chose Norwich due to its flexibility in being able to complete the degree program while still maintaining employment. I became familiar with the program as the ASCE Norwich Student Practitioner Advisor from 2007 to 2009.”

Q: “What do you feel makes Norwich unique?”
A: “Norwich provides opportunities for advanced learning for career track professionals. The program utilizes a comprehensive, versatile, and easy-to-use learning management system that provides a unique and fun learning experience.”

Q: “How have you developed as an individual as a result of your education?”
A: “My communication skills, particularly written communication, have excelled exponentially. My ability to translate and formulate my thoughts into words has provided a tremendous advantage in dealing with clients, contracts, and co-workers.”

Q: “Please tell us about any examples where you were able to put your knowledge to work immediately at your job.”
A: “I have used much of storm water research in my position both in proposal preparation and in design. Many of the management techniques learned through the project management course have improved my ability to manage staff and projects and teach others how to manage.”

Q: “What aspects of your Norwich experience will you carry most strongly with you?”
A: “The overall learning experience. At the onset of the program, I was concerned about the ability to complete the work required. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how prepared I was to tackle and manage the work that was required.”
