Q: “Gary, tell us about you as a person and your background.”
A: “I live in Chicago, Illinois, but I am originally from Denver, Colorado. Over the years, I’ve worn a lot of hats from business manager and leader, to educator, to musician, to soldier.”

Q: “Briefly describe your professional life.”
A: “My title is senior manager, marketing research and competitive intelligence, at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.” 

Q: “What was your motivation for pursuing your degree?”
A: “To gain a broader view and exposure to different business challenges. I felt that I needed new skills and more experience to move ahead.”

Q: “How did you choose Norwich?”
A: “I chose Norwich because it offered a balance between the type of program I needed, the excellent reputation that I sought, and the affordable cost I was looking for.”

Q: “What makes Norwich unique?”
A: “I think Norwich is unique in that the institution at every level seems invested in the success of its students. The emphasis in every class was on the application of knowledge and theory.”

Q: “How have you grown personally and professionally as a result of your education?”
A: “Through the program, I have gained the confidence and the skills to attain positions with more responsibilities and opportunities.”

Q: “Have you been able to use your newly gained knowledge at work?”
A: “At first it was little things, like being more efficient with using common tools such as Excel and bringing in additional viewpoints to the table on upcoming projects. By the end, I was employing everything I had learned about leading and managing change. And I am now heading up significant projects.”

Q: “What aspects of your Norwich experience will you carry most strongly with you?”
A: “The work ethic and the ability to know I have skills to go after big things and to succeed at them.”
