Q: “Tell us a bit about yourself, Gabriel.”
A: “I'm originally from San Antonio, Texas, but remained in North Carolina after leaving active duty military from Fort Bragg. I have four boys, and my interests include reading and running 5k and marathon distances."

Q: “What is your current employer?”
A:  "I have been a police officer for nearly four years now and currently employeed with the Smithfield, North Carolina Police Department."

Q: “What was your motivation for pursuing your degree?”
A:  "I know how competitive the workforce is now. When I left the U.S. Army in 2012, I knew I would need a bachelor's degree. Almost immediately when finished with my bachelor's, I knew I would need a master's degree to remain competitive. I don't want to just meet the minimum qualifications, I want to stand out and pursuing my master's degree was my way of standing out."

Q: “What makes Norwich unique?”
A:  "For starters, they really appreciate veterans. That is obviously something I greatly appreciate. Also Norwich has such a prestigious reputation and some very convincing choices for graduate programs. The history along with the willingness of the staff and student participation in the classroom is something that makes a Norwich student feel at home."

Q: “How have you grown personally or professionally as a result of your education?”
A:  "I have definitely learned how the world is connected. Both in undergraduate and graduate programs, I learned how everything in politics, governments and policy decisions focus so much on planning and problem solving. This is something I have a new appreciation for and I can bring it to the table at work as well as confidently explain in any setting."
