A third generation Vermonter, Cathy Frey was born in Barre, Vermont.  After earning her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree at the University of Vermont, she joined the Norwich faculty in 1985 (being promoted to associate professor and tenured in 1991, and promoted to full professor in 2001).  She has completed 175 of 200 credits necessary for Associateship in the Society of Actuaries. With research interests in the areas of actuarial science and mathematics education, Cathy particularly enjoys creating instructional modules for the web. She has served as the Chair of the Mathematics Department from 2002-2006 and as the Dean of Mathematics and Sciences since 2006-2013. Beyond Norwich, Cathy has served on the Vermont Commission on Women since 2006 and was the recipient of the Vermont Women in Higher Education Jackie Gribbon’s Award for leadership in 2008.
