A Degree for an Evolving Job Market

Doing well in your job isn’t just about what you know; it’s also about how you think. Being able to research and analyze information, develop innovative solutions to problems, and clearly communicate your ideas are all necessary skills for professional success—no matter the field.

The online Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program focuses on developing these essential skills while enabling students to customize their degree track based on their current or desired job. The program is intended for working adults who already have professional know-how and experience but need a bachelor’s degree to advance their careers. As a degree completion program, the program requires that incoming students have at least 30 credit hours of prior college coursework or equivalent military or professional training.

The interdisciplinary studies curriculum is grounded in a set of core courses that explore different methods of acquiring, analyzing, and applying knowledge across the major academic disciplines. Students also take concentration courses in one of three interdisciplinary areas: justice studies, leadership studies, or strategic studies. The program culminates with the capstone course, in which students design and execute a substantive research project that draws from at least two academic disciplines and demonstrates an interdisciplinary approach to information gathering and analysis.
