Graduate Certificate in Procurement and Government Contract Management

This two-course certificate explores the process of analyzing data and crafting plans in the growing field of procurement and contract management. Topics include planning and analysis prior to forming government contracts, as well as issues of contract formulation versus successful contract formulation. Through discussion and evaluation of sample contracts, you can gain the ability to properly craft plans to engage in public procurement and contracting.

The certificate program is comprised of two 11-week courses, totaling 12 graduate-level credits, and are completed entirely online. Upon successful completion of a certificate program, students wishing to enter into our Master of Public Administration degree program will be able to use the certificate courses toward the completion of their master’s degree.

Public Procurement and Contracting | AD568 | 6 credit hours
Effectively and efficiently engaging the overall procurement function is essential knowledge in public procurement and contracting realms. With this discussion and research-based course, you can learn how to analyze data and draft implementation plans to conduct the public procurement and contracting process. Throughout this course, you develop a public procurement strategic plan as a way to learn the essential elements and techniques of planning and sourcing successful contract formulation.

Government Contract Management | AD578 | 6 credit hours
This course focuses on the concepts of contract management so that you can identify the mistakes, the cost estimation and legal and accounting implications within various contract types. You learn the current Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and use the regulations to evaluate contractual issues. In addition, this course provides a foundation for you to take the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) Certification Program, which is designed to distinguish your performance and knowledge of contract management from others in the practice. After the completion of this course, you can have the ability to actively engage in government contracting.
